In 2002 David and Katie Lester started Elite Blinds and Shutters and after 20 years, the team has grown but the values still remain to deliver professionalism, reliability and great value for money.
To celebrate our 20th Anniversary we decided to set ourselves some fun, challenging events to raise money for Take Off – Mental Health charity.
Read on to find out what we will be up to over 2022 and how you can get involved.
River Clean
As part of our latest efforts to give back to the local area, our team took to the River Stour to clean a section going from Millers Field all the way down to Westgate Towers.
Beach Clean
The Elite team took to the Tankerton slopes and pebble beach to clear it of unsightly debris saving the local wildlife of it, the seas from being strewn with rubbish and improving the environment for everyone who loves to enjoy the beautiful seaside.
David, Katie, Mel, Andy, Shanice and Rosie all took part in collecting over 6 bags of litter!
The Walking Challenge
The Elite team are setting themselves a friendly competition to each walk at least 1769km throughout the year. 1769 is the year the first blind was patented in the UK.
Katie is currently in the lead but who will be beating her to the biggest individual target?

Tree Planting
We will be planting 20 trees, 1 for each year of business throughout Canterbury and the surrounding Kent countryside. The first tree is to be planted in Littlebourne Recreation Ground for the Queens Jubilee commemorative in October! We’ll release information about the next tree to be planted very soon!
Why Take Off?
Take Off works for better physical and mental health. They are aware of the link between mental health problems and economic hardship, which also brings loneliness and lack of occupation and purpose. They are 100% user led, believing that people who’ve themselves come through the problems are best placed to help those currently afflicted.
They run entirely on the peer support model and most of their services take the form of self-help groups, which are either “talking” or “doing” focused.
